Catherine Ford is a British actress who was born in Bloomsbury. Following the time her father's departure from her family members, she was grew to maturity by her mother, godparents and grandmother. As a young infant, Ford struggled with anxious disorders, obsessive/compulsive and was afflicted by the word association. Ford began performing in her teen years and joined a member of the National Youth Theatre. Ford was accepted to Sylvia Young Theatre School but after just one week she realized that she wasn't a good fit. Ford applied instead to the Central School of Speech and Drama and was eventually offered a position on her fourth attempt. A classmate of hers was Shaun Dingwall, who would be later reprise her role in the role of Pete Tyler in Doctor Who. Ford was able to graduate in 1993. She already had her TV debut on a show in 1992 called Surgical Spirit. She adopted the stage name Catherine Tate. Tate made appearances on television during the Nineties in shows like The Bill and Men Behaving Badly. The stage was her main focus as well as a part of the Royal Shakespeare Company's 2000-2001 season. Tate received recognition for her stand-up comedy and became part of her repertoire in the year 1996.
